Danjo no Yuujou wa Seiritsu suru? (Iya, Shinai!!)

A boy and a girl pledge lifelong friendship in a small town junior high school. The relationship between the two, who are destined to share a common dream, has ed two years without any particular development.

Himari Inuzuka, a bubbly girl who has yet to find her first love, and Yuu Natsume, a plant-loving boy who enjoys flowers, still spend their days peacefully as best friends in the gardening club in the second year of high school.

"If Yuu can't get married, I have to take responsibility."
"I'm having trouble now because after Himari said that, your brother began calling me 'My brother-in-law!'"

However, when Yuu reunites with his first crush, the gears of their relationship suddenly go out of sync! Will Himari be able to escape her "ideal friend" now that she has found love?

I can't believe the number of virgins in these reviews. I see people complaining about Himari's toxic, crazy personality. Not only does she work, but she's more real than many of the other 100 female protagonists who are obsessed with the loser protagonist for no reason other than "he's a good guy."

I read a review somewhere from a loser comparing her to Marin from Sono Bisque Doll, ??? I mean, the blonde with a model's body, 90-60-90 cm, perfect personality, wife material, deeply obsessed with him, loyal. She's literally the perfect woman. What kind of delay thinks a woman like that is even possible? Or, ... well, let's just say there are some, what kind of virgin projects themselves onto the protagonist, believing that at some point in their pathetic life their "Marin" will come along and drag their fat ass off the cheap chair they're sitting in.

I'm not saying the series isn't bad; it has its flaws, and there are many. But the amount of criticism I see for such... pathetic reasons is absurd. It has more good things than bad. I recommend it only because there's a lot of salty with the altered perception.

Mixed Feelings

Preliminary (9/12 eps)

This anime is honestly what I'd call an interesting case of a Romantic Comedy. Instead of focusing on being extremely funny or on the huge connections between characters while maintaining some funny scenes, this show does both and surprisingly, it kind of works!

The series goes from heartwarming, emotional scenes to silly, over-the-top comedy at whiplash speed. One second, you're seeing the most emotional scene in the whole series, and the next, you're wondering if that deep moment was a setup for a joke. It's chaotic—but in a sorta charming way.

Now, about the humour: there are a few jokes that made me chuckle, and even fewer ... that had me actually laughing. Most of them feel like they’re just… there. Like, they exist mainly to keep characters “on brand” instead of being genuinely funny.

Plot-wise? It’s good. That’s it. Not groundbreaking, but not bad either. We've definitely seen this kind of story done better, but considering the target audience, I think it does the job pretty well.

As for the main cast—Yuu and Himari? Yeah, they totally carry the show (Mostly Himari). Their dynamic has that power imbalance energy that makes watching them bounce off each other genuinely entertaining. But sadly, it starts feeling repetitive after a while. Like, once you’ve seen the pattern, it just keeps looping.

Now, the side characters? They're just there. Yes, they do contribute to the plot, but they don’t feel like real people (That can also be probably because of the very limited screentime they have been given). They’re more like walking stereotypes with one or two basic personality traits.

Final Score: 7/10
It’s not gonna make you go WOW but if you're looking for something chill to watch after a long, stressful day, this is it. Just turn your brain off and enjoy it!

I’m actually fuming right now. After forcing myself through 8 episodes of Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive?, I can confidently say: DON’T waste your time. This show is beyond irritating.

By the middle of Episode 8, I literally said “f*** it” and shut it off. The writing? Frustrating. The characters? Infuriating. The blue-haired girl is unbearably annoying, and the main character has the emotional intelligence of a rock.

And don’t get me started on the perfect girl—absolutely gorgeous, kind, sincere—confessing her feelings FIVE TIMES, only to be rejected for no reason. ZERO logic. ZERO payoff. Just pain.

It’s not even bittersweet; it’s straight-up bitter. This show will leave ... a bad taste in your mouth and make you question why you even started watching in the first place.

1/10. Never again.
