Adatsubaki Yugamite Haguruma is a historic BL revenge manga that thrives gloriously on the nostalgia of a bygone samurai era with skilfull, macho swordsmen upholding an affinity for effeminacy amidst the looming bloodbath.

I'm particularly impressed with how well-executed the swordfighting scenes are, having almost the same weight as the action-packed shounen-seinen counterpart. This does justice to the chosen theme and really shows the dedication that the author invested into crafting a story rich in emotional depth.

The characters are undoubtedly charming and the yearning one has for the other was able to slice open my surface and pierce its blade inside. It's also worth ... mentioning that the storytelling is lyrical without making things overly melodramatic. Both the extreme and peaceful moments are handled to an extent that is comfortably suited, leaving a lingering note for the readers to take with them on their journey returning to their own reality.
