after 577 chapters and about 4 months of nonstop reading, I am finished with 3x3 eyes. I started this series on a whim thinking I would only read a volume or two. I wanted to watch the OVA originally, but I am epileptic so old OVAs and I don't get along. I had not a hint of just how much I would fall so deeply in love with this series. It gave me a feeling I haven't had since I first read shonen action manga about 10 years ago. I wanna go up to every character and just hug them! As I've gone through my ... day the past few months, every once in a while I will think about this cast and just smile. I know it is a hard sell given the length, but if you like action manga at all, please read it. This is one of my favorite series of all time.

This is a very strange manga, its dark,demonic and filled with questions.

when reading this the premise starts off simple enough but the plot goes in so many directions that you cant predict from first glance. It is a exciting read that leaves you guessing and surprises you at every turn.

what i particularly liked about this manga is that no matter how irrelevant any character or sub plot seemed to the over all progression of the story, you realize at the end how crucial every scene written was crucial to the entire story. It is part mystery,action,romance and a little comedy so its got ... something for everyone.

The art is amazing, the monsters are fairly unique in appearance with there demonic exo skeletons and fangs and even a mustache or two. The character designs aren't bad they just aren't super detailed and varied. some body types are used a few times and a couple side characters can be easily mistaken but you don't lose track of who is important threw the majority of the plot so its alright.

It is a long story with a very simple sounding goal but the complications of that goal just grow and grow as you read onward and things just seem so out of control at a point you cant wait too see how it ends. 3x3 Eyes is a amazing read and i am so glad i read this after seeing the short lived Ova's that got me hooked on it.

I want to share my thoughts on this manga, especially because there is only one review yet. And I've only read the first 3 volumes, so I'm not sure if it will change my opinion.
I'd give this manga a 5/10. I will go through every cathergory and explain why.

Art: 7/10
The art is good. It has a certain vibe to it because the manga was made in the 80s. The expressions, fight scenes and the clothes are very well drawn. Sometimes the heads look a little bit weird, but it doesnt matter a lot because the rest of the drawings lookes totally okay. Despite ... the heads (sometimes), i have nothing negative to mention.


Story: 5/10
Like you've read above, some girl (not a human girl, a monster girl) from the mountains met an old professor and he died and she has to give his son a letter or smth and she wants to become a human. So she looks for the boy and a way to become human.
The story is fine by itself, but the way the author implemented it is weird and not so nice.

The first chapters were very rushed and kinda hart to understand. The following chapters/volumes are not as rushed but still hard to understand and very confusing. There are also some side stories and they were confusing as well. And the whole 3rd volume was just confusing. I still don't get it and I've read it a few times by now haha.


Character: 4/10
The characters are a bit dry. The main characters are the (monster)girl (Pai) and the boy (Yakumo) but they both lack of coolness. I will talk about them individualy

Pai: Her story isn't bad, but it isn't well explained so she's a bit of a mystery. She acts weird too. When she's in her normal form she's annoying and even more annoying. She's helpless and needs to be protected by Yakumo. But in her other form she's a total bit ch. She doesn't care about anyone and selfish. But she doesn't need help anymore, so atleast that's what I'd call character development.

Yakumo: A useless side kick. Sorry but that's all he is. He doesn't have an interesting story, nor does he have an interesting personality. He's good at fighting tho and that's probably the only good thing about him.


Enjoyment: 3/10
Due to the rushed and confusing chapters, it is a hell to read, not even the art makes me keep going.

And there's one more thing I'd like to mention. The unnecessary sexualisation of the girls in this manga.
In every chapter there is atleast 1 pair of boobs. And it's very annoying because the story has nothing to do with the badonkadonks and the sexual assault that's happening in the manga. They're useless and i think the only reason they are here, is to make small boys excited. And that's sad. Because I would've enjoyed the story wayyy more if the sexual stuff wasn't here. So this really botherd me and I've decited to drop this manga because of this point. It's awful imo.

But there's a cool thing about the covers of the manga. On the spines are picture fragments so if you put all the volumes together there'll be a big picture. i just thought this was cool.


Overall: 5/10
If you like the story and you like the unnecesarry rapes and boobies, this is your go to.
For me it wasn't a fun ride and I'm not sure if I'll ever pick it up again.
