yes I did get offended by the anime because shitty and insensitive portrayals of mental illness, suicide, and rape, get under my skin.

First of all, we have two completely different rating systems. Your score for mediocre/average shows is 6/7 while mine is 4/5, which explains the difference in our mean scores. Second of all, why would I drop anime because I dislike the majority of it? I dislike the majority of pretty much everything. The only difference is that it is actually entertaining for me to watch awful anime since it's easy to discuss with people on MAL. I don't expect too much of anime, I expect nothing from anime since it's a media full of awful writers, who are just trying to make wish fulfillment shows for Otakus, who wants to fuck the younger sister that they don't have.

I never saw anyone that saw Steins;Gate till the end and still hated it.
Most of the criticism comes when people get bored in the beginning and decide to not finish it.

My point is: Try seeing it till the end, maybe you'll change your mind.
