Hi there, thanks for the friends request! I wasn't expecting someone to see my recommendation so soon. At any rate, I see you have watched your fair share of older anime, so I feel like you'd appreciate watching the ones I've recommended if you get a chance. Honnêamise in particular is a masterpiece and, interestingly enough, it was the debut title by Studio Gainax, which probably needs no introduction!

Hey, what's up man? How have you been doing? Yeah, work has got really bad over the past few months so I haven't had nearly as much free time as I've been able to enjoy in the past. You can probably tell by how infrequently I show up here lately. Instead of watching 5 animes in a week, it's taking me 2 weeks just to watch 1 series nowadays.

That definitely sounds like a movie I'd like, and I'll see if I can fit it in sometime soon. I'm still trying to find a way to cast the movies from your folder to my streaming box so I can watch them on my TV instead of my laptop or phone. Any ideas on how to do that?

How do you keep finding these weird "social commentary" pornos? :S

Ah yeah including manga... I definitely wouldn't be able to do that. my adhd causes me to have issues reading in the manga format or reading books especially if the text is printed smaller. Which is why I haven't really read anything. If I tried to include manga in my completionism i don't think i'd be able to get anything done lol.

I actually watched Fate Zero before stay night, in general I think it's just the superior production. Actually when I first watched it which was like... I think 4 years ago now I had given it an 8 out of 10 but that was still at a point where I didn't have a particularly large sample size of things I'd seen yet.

The biggest problem I have right now with Fate is that almost always it gives you the same characters, the same antagonists, the same servants, the same general plot.... with only rough minor differences. Because of that it feels like I'm basically watching the same thing, at least with differences between stuff like Heaven's Feel or UBW or even the regular stay night.

I honestly don't know why there's a big debate over "Which Fate to watch first"

I get Zero technically is the prequel and the general plot is also extremely similar to stay night as well (to the point of almost being a copy) but the reason why i think it's the best one is that that the MC makes in general smarter decisions than in other series and so it's more enjoyable to watch.

Unfortunately I've already watched the first season and the movie remake of it so uh.... I've been ah... delaying the inevitable XD

but also I didn't mind the first season it was pretty decent so hopefully I'll enjoy everything else.

Moebius is one of my absolute favourites! What is this from? I don't think I recognise it from The Incal, which is the one thing I've read before drawn by him.

Man, I haven't seen those movies in a long time. Come to think of it, I saw part 2 when I was around 8 years old, and that might have been the first exposure to anything punk related in my life. Well, other than all of the villainous street gangs with mohawks that attempted to harass or mug the protagonist of every movie with a city setting during the 80s. But when you say the movie has the most realistic depiction, are you taking Suburbia into , or does it not qualify for being more of an independent film? Because that would have been my choice. And although I haven't seen SLC Punk in about 20 years, didn't that one also have a decent portrayal? I honestly can't anything about that one other than it starred Mathew Lillard.

Hell yeah so happy to hear that, I think the third is super underrated, as you said incredibly anxiety inducing cinema, it's so well done. And yeah the sequels were essentially the director's hail Mary, hoping to get back on his feet after his film, Fear X, bombed so hard, luckily the Pusher sequels were both great and successful. Bleeder's so great too in my opinion, really fun to watch after Pusher as well.

Lmao I have a tradition with my friends that we watch video game movie adaptations every Friday and it just so happened to fit perfectly with the MAW challenge since I hadn't watched a UK movie. We do find some fun things once in a while but it's mostly quite bad.

Happy to hear you found some enjoyment in it! Pusher 2 is my personal favorite but I think they all have merit, even if the third one is very different compared to the others.

lol, I'll respond to more of what you said later. Would you mind telling me how this dystopian porno ends?
Gsarthotegga Apr 5, 3:19 PM
lol, the scripting there is weird. It sounds like they're in a revolutionary cell together, but with the way she was explaining things at first, I figured she was part of the status quo trying to comfort the main into adhering to the system. That girl on the right sure likes to sneak a lot of peeks at the camera. XD

It makes sense to me. It's just too boring and meaningless, and they want something else. lol, I was talking about this with sheaswee earlier. This blog post he linked gives an example.

This second one is longer and more detailed. First should be fine if you just want a quickie.

I was expecting some kind of weird sci-fi twist to the scene. I guess it's an interesting concept for porn. Sounds like a Tsai Ming-liang film, and he did have that one pornographic film (though it's an art film and meant more so as anti-porn). :\

Hey Bro! Thanks so much for sharing your blog—it looks awesome! I just checked it out and loved the sci-fi stuff. The titles you picked are really cool; "666: The Mark of the Beast" caught my eye 👀.

And haha, I don’t use Letterboxd, but I’m a total Goodreads nerd! Here’s my profile if you wanna peek. I track all my books, manga, and comics there—this year’s list is here.

We’ve got overlapping taste! Though for me, anthologies are a lifesaver… way kinder to my wallet than other hobbies 😂. Let me know if you spot anything on my lists we should geek out about!

I created my name when I was six, so that's a funny coincidence.
Gsarthotegga Apr 2, 11:26 PM
You should probably try some more Miike then. He has an absurd amount of variety. Gozu reminds me a lot of Lynch, just with an equally weird Japanese sensibility. Maybe Ichi the Killer or Izo or worth a look. I'm trying to the titles for his more laid back ones, though. Bird People in China, I guess. He also has that comedy musical the Happiness of the Katakuris.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
