As a massive idol fan, the premise of OchiFuru intrigued me. The only other "unpopular idols" anime I had seen before this was Ongaku Shoujo, which was terrible in its own right. But I had hoped that OchiFuru would change my mind about this niche of idol anime.

No. OchiFuru is a dumpster fire. I am one who believes that fiction should not be held to the same moral standards as reality, so ecchi typically does not bother me. But when I'm watching a music/idol anime I expect singing, dancing, a little bit of friendship building, and the occasional gaybaiting. OchiFuru is almost entirely fanservice of ... underage girls. Every other scene is either a zoom in on jiggling boobs or a panty shot. Those scenes in between those? Sister complexes, shame play and loli baiting.

And you know what? If that's your cup of tea, then go for it! I won't judge if that's what you prefer. But personally, as a massive fan of the idol genre, this anime is abhorrent in my eyes. The idol genre may be bloated, but OchiFuru is a significant stain on its name.

If you're looking for a cutesy idol anime, then I recommend Aikatsu. Not this.
