This is the best season of G… but it’s such a low bar, it’s practically pointless pointing it out. The best part about the season was the finale which was mostly wall to wall gags that were actually funny. Plus what helped this season was the fact that it was only twenty four episodes that felt very neatly split down the middle for a faster paced season. Unfortunately, lackluster narcissistic villains up against lackluster idiot protagonists combined with logic loop holes didn’t make for very good entertainment, much less a compelling season. Unfortunately, Prime is up next which is just an unnecessary reboot of the ... original so…

This was such an almighty struggle to get through, I had to pace myself over 2 weeks. What really hurts this season is how stupid the writers are; giving us like two dozen characters and have them each have motivations that clash with the season’s main story. For instance, Tokoha and Shion know Chrono has to be the one to defeat the main villain and yet they try to beat Chrono to satisfy their own egos. Tokoha’s storyline is perhaps one of the worst things about this season; achieving “her dream” of studying in Paris only to throw it all away because she was affected ... by the death of a boy she knew for all of 2 days (and she didn’t even know who he really was) and then kept prattling on about carrying his will (even though she didn’t know his real identity). Then there was this Kazuma character who is so unlikeable and being instantly made a member of the main cast just really hurt the show. Cardfight Vanguard started okay (with problems) and then became trash, G started trash and got much worse.

Shiny Colors continues to prove why it’s the worst Idolmaster entry. This OVA makes the mistake of introducing two new characters, who we not only don’t have any reason to care about, they are so visually similar to other characters on the series that it’s confusing as to whether or not they are characters we’ve seen before. Plus the story structure of the episode is so confusing, it seems like most of the episode is going between flashback and the present but that is confusingly not the case. Not to mention that the new girl who is the main character of this OVA is essentially ... being emotionally abused, constantly being pushed aside and forgotten by everyone in favor of her group mate. The fact that this aspect of the storyline didn’t have a resolution… or even a development is deeply worrying. The fact that, even in a standalone OVA episode, Shiny Colors can’t even manage a decent episode speaks volumes.

That loud banging noise you hear is me putting my own head through a wall in frustration. The writing is absolutely abhorrently bad and the events of this season, as well as the previous one, have absolutely zero weight especially when stuff that should have grounded in reality consequences is just brushed aside. Not to mention how the villains storyline is treated is just shockingly poor; wanting to forcefully put the world in a dream and thinking that random card draws in a Cardfight means the universe thinks you are right. Child friendly anime have always had a problem where they don’t solve character based ... problems in a realistic fashion, instead leaving it to childish tropes like “the power of friendship”. Definitely need to slow down on the Vanguard otherwise I’ll get a headache.

This season really struggled in of its writing. Not only does various plot developments feel rushed but there is also stuff not shown and we have to rely on exposition to find out what’s going on. Even with the storyline about the big bad, it just appears out of nowhere and we just have to trust characters from their exposition dumps that he is a bad guy. Plus characters are very poorly written, like a 14 year old girl committing multiple felonies and the police aren’t involved or another person being told (by someone they trust) that their friend is on the bad guy’s ... side but refusing to except it. To cap it all off, Chrono is an emotionally stunted protagonist just flapping about about stopping the bad guy’s and Shion starts taking on some of Kai’s annoying mannerisms after meeting Kai.

The writing of this season really gave me a headache… and to make matters worse, it’s a two part season.

I think this could’ve had the potential to be something better than what it ultimately ended up being but a lot of that potential is squandered in the writing of the protagonist who just comes across as this really flimsy and indecisive person who the other characters shouldn’t rely on in a crisis. And the amount of uncensored “fan service” is just really bizarre, you could still achieve what you wanted to in the shot, nipple or no nipple. But the harem girls are absolutely dynamite and I liked how at the beginning of the series, it’s like an American police procedural with every episode ... tackling a new case. It’s probably for the best that this didn’t go past 12 episodes, because I don’t see them fixing the problems of the series in any form of continuation.

What have I done to deserve this torture? The crux of the problem is how bad the writing of the characters is. The main character is a selfish narcissistic little brat who makes you want to cave his head in with a baseball bat. And the worst part is is that his behavior is barely challenged, instead it’s encouraged by original protagonist Valt. Not to mention his rival calls himself a “high king” which is just narcissistic and drunk on power.

The Beyblade Burst series has struggled with the writing of its characters for all of its seasons, mainly because this writer has forgotten how to ... write actual human beings that you don’t want to punch, but somehow, Beyblade Burst was a very painful experience.

The eighth series in the Yugioh franchise. Not only does it continue the terrible Rush Duelling from Sevens but every single episode is designed to insult the audience’s intelligence with plot holes, logic holes and just in general childish writing. Not to mention, this series has no problem creating massive time paradoxes and just shrugging them off as though they’re not a problem. And a protagonist so childish and naive, he can’t even play the game properly at the beginning.

If you are one of the people who like this show, congratulations, you like a show made by people who think you are an idiot.

Every single anime in the idol/music genre suffers from the same irrefutable problem without exception; they become overpowered by overly dramatic drama. And this anime is no exception. Not only was Sakiko and Ave Mujica the worst part of It’s MyGo but to be given their own spinoff was utterly stupid, considering none of the characters are likable. For some bizarre reason, this series tackles DID and wealthy family BS. Not only that, but Ave Mujica’s performances are these bizarre masked overly theatrical stage plays. It’s pure nonsense and I recommend you delete this from your lists as fast as possible.

I am someone who grew up watching Digimon Adventure, Digimon Tamers and Digimon Data Squad, so I decided to revisit this series in Japanese for my 1,300th after previously having revisited Adventure and Adventure 02. This series was way worse than I ed. By trying to tackle more mature themes like death and government incompetence, it just drowns under that darkness from day one and can’t pick itself back up. Not to mention the fact that they mixed up their own terminology and the protagonist is frankly pathetic. If anything, the best thing about this series is that they somehow managed to get Masako Nozawa ... to voice a Digimon. This series lacks the decisive and well paced structure that made Adventure work so well.
