That’s cool about the perfume shopping! totally get what you mean about heavier scents in winter. I used to avoid them too but because when it got so cold in the winter I couldn't even smell them haha (^^ "), but now I’m starting to see how they add something warmer and more grounded when it’s cold out. Let me know if you find one that stands out!
I haven’t read anything by Nietzsche, but I’ve heard his name before. Sounds like his work really sticks with you, especially when it hits close to home. but I have read no longer human but I couldn't finish it in one setting I had to pick it up and put it down so many times its just I don't know if calling missed up is the right way to put it but it most certainly brain twisting.
That’s really great to hear about your relationship with your brother. It sounds like you really understand him, and it’s thoughtful that you chose something based on what he’d enjoy instead of just picking something random. Books are definitely a solid gift especially if he’s been getting more into reading lately.
I actually read a study once (I’ll try to the name!) that said men often give gifts they personally think are cool, while women are more likely to choose gifts based on what they think the other person would like. I guess that doesn’t really apply to you you clearly put effort into choosing something meaningful for him, not just what you’d pick for yourself. haha :D
I’ve been doing alright lately thanks for asking! :) Things are a bit routine, but not in a bad way. I’ve been checking out some seasonal anime too, nothing mind-blowing yet but they are enjoyable to watch. Haven’t picked up a new game in a while either, but maybe soon! What about you how have you been doing lately got anything new you picked up? ^_^
Really good hearing from you again too, hope your week’s going well :)
As for figures and dolls, it’s mostly anime-related stuff and these monster high dolls for me! I love how much character detail they pack into them. and the fashion on these monster high dolls are really detailed and good.
I'm planning to buy this doll soon:

Posters used to be a huge thing for me growing up, but these days I try to keep it minimal. I think paintings like the ones you have sound lovely, especially ones that have been with you for so long. There’s something very grounding about older art pieces. Let me know if you end up getting something new in the future, I’m always curious about people’s taste in art. :)
Ah yes, the eternal perfume dilemma! Sometimes the bottle is a work of art, but the scent just doesn’t feel like you. I know what you mean about Jean Paul Gaultier, beautiful bottles, but not always wearable. Versace does have some hits though, and I agree, their winter scents are really nice. The ones you like Prada L’Homme, Dior Sauvage, Aqua di Gio, those are solid choices. Going for something like Tom Ford or Creed Aventus for special occasions sounds perfect. Definitely investment pieces, but the right scent can make an event even more memorable.
And yeah… having a perfume bottle shatter is painful in every sense. haha :D it happened so suddenly, I was getting ready to go out when I suddenly heard a crash. I looked over and saw the perfume shattered on the floor. I must have accidentally left it too close to the edge or something. (^^ ")...
"Ordinary Men" sounds like a heavy read, I'll put it in my Amazon cart sounds really interesting just by the title :). No surprise it’s hard to get through, especially with such a packed schedule! Balancing a full-time job, gym, social life, and gaming? That’s a whole skill set on its own, haha. The Greek mythology books sound super cool, that's really great you even got one for your little brother. That’s such a thoughtful gift. And a book by your friend about the Pontian dialect? That’s amazing, I bet it has some great insights.
Manga over anime makes total sense, it's quicker to get through and just easier to fit into a busy schedule. I do the exact same thing. Since I prefer manga, I’ve definitely been watching less anime lately, but I still try to keep up with each new season and check out the latest releases.
Well, hope to hear from you again soon Enjoy your Day/Night (^_^)/
Great picks! Dostoevsky is such an incredible author. I have two of his books, Crime and Punishment and The Idiot. I still haven’t finished The Idiot, though, it’s like 600 pages long, haha. (^^ ")
I totally get it! There’s something so satisfying and calming about holding a physical book and flipping through the pages. Plus, it’s a nice break from screens after being in front of them all day. According to some libraries and even Google, you only need 500 books to be considered a library.
Haha, yeah, I know what you mean. The list of things to buy keeps growing, so it gets harder to decide what to get first. :D
That’s pretty cool, old PlayStation RPGs. I feel like having the physical copy of a game adds to the experience. There’s just something about taking the CD out of the case and popping it into the console that feels way more exciting than just ing it.
And yeah, it’s not just harder to find physical copies, they’re also getting way more expensive. Everyone’s buying digital versions now, but the physical ones are so much cooler. Take Cyberpunk 2077, for example. My physical copy came with postcards, stickers, and a full map of the game, you definitely don’t get that when you buy it online.
Oh, that’s cool! I wouldn’t say I collect fragrances either, but I do have a few that I really like. I try to keep the bottles too, but I always forget and end up throwing them away or accidentally breaking them. Just last month, one of my favorite perfumes fell off the shelf and shattered. :\
Do you have any favorite scents or perfumes bottles shapes?
I completely agree, having physical copies of things really makes them feel like they’re a part of you. Whether it’s a book, a figure, a music CD, a video game, or a poster, it’s nice to have something tangible to connect to those memories. These days, everything is digital, and it almost feels like people are intentionally trying to forget the physical stuff. I still have some Monster High dolls from when I was younger, and it’s nice to have them around as little pieces of my childhood.
I absolutely love collecting physical things. My friends even call me a hoarder, haha. I collect manga, books, figures, dolls, music albums, stickers, and just about anything I find cute or that interests me. As for hobbies I really enjoy reading manga and books I like the idea of taking my time with it or being about to read at my own pace which with anime you have to watch a 25+ minute episode to get the point while with manga it take much less time and you can read even more chapters and volumes :).
I just ordered a copy of The Stranger by Albert Camus, so once that arrives, I’ll probably binge-read it. ^_^
To my knowledge, Switzerland has 2 anime conventions. One in Lausanne and another one in Basel. As I mentioned in the beginning of the video, I filmed one in Basel last year but I had such high expectations for the OP (film some running scenes in different locations) and wasn't sure if I had enough footage that I ended up not posting it on YouTube. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to film another one next year cosplayed as Okabe in Basel and I will make sure that I get enough footage as well as manage my expectations for the video like the one I just published.
That was my 4th time at an anime convention, ever since I first started going to them back in April of 2022. It was a lot more open compared to the ones in Montreux, a municipality further east of Switzerland (still on the French side), that was pretty compact in a somewhat "dimly lit" building with not much outdoor stalls. The one in Basel is much larger in of indoor surface area and has a neat, circular outdoor section in the middle of the building.
I appreciate the suggestion. Normally, and I will continue to do this for the rest of my vlogs, I let the video do the talking. Very few commentary and mainly the ambiance of the place that is being filmed, with a few shots of food or interesting things that I find (with the exception of certain activities that require me to film myself). This video that I made was completely outside of my territory as I am not used to simply approaching people that I don't know, let alone taking photos with them. However, I have done so in the past since I am fully immersed with all the fellow of the anime community which makes it easier to just randomly approach someone. I'll see what. I shall see if I can implement your suggestion the next time I go to such a convention in order to:
a) develop my confidence in speaking with strangers
b) improve my videos in ways I wouldn't have thought possible
This anime convention, named Polymanga, took place in Lausanne which is a city in the west side of Switzerland. Around an hour and 20 minutes from Geneva which is further west, closer to the border with .
