Both are ecchi/shonen anime with smug rivals and clueless protagonists. Shokugeki is way more humorous, and Fire force has better animation and sound design.
Rather than similar stories, I feel as if Fire Force and Food Wars share the same amount of fanservice. Food Wars is more borderline in doing so than the few here and there's that Fire Force has. Both are good shounen anime with Fire Force being a battle shounen compared to the cooking fights in the kitchens of Food Wars.
