Both focus around making it in a bad a reserved introverted mc and alot of really great music in it as well too.
Both have: - Very good music! (This point is the main point~) - Slice of Life vibes as both storylines just go through the day to day of people in a band - Highschoolers Main Characters, so full of youthful woes and hope, and naivety. Both stories follow a character who is getting involved in the music scene while trying to learn how to communicate. If you want a break from the sadness and want more of the slice of life scenes from Given, Bocchi the Rock is a great pick.
the original songs for these two are peak jrock thats really the only similarity it has. if you like cute girls doin funny stuff maybe youll like cute guys with relationship issues

In my heart Bocchi is better, however the actual story of Given is better and well told. But they each share music and they each have a lead role be shy, but in different ways.
